Sigmoidoscopy:

Sigmoidoscopy is a procedure whereby a doctor inserts a viewing tube (sigmoidoscope) into the rectum for the purpose of inspecting the lower colon (sigmoid colon) and rectum. If an abnormal area is detected, a biopsy can be performed.
