Show, bloody:
Literally, the appearance of blood. The bloody show consists of blood-tinged mucus created by extrusion and passage of the mucous plug that filled the cervical canal (the canal between the vagina and uterus) during pregnancy. The bloody show is a classic sign of impending labor. The same term, bloody show, can be applied to the beginning of menstruation.
