Pleuritis:

Inflammation of the pleura (The thin covering that protects and cushions the lungs). The pleura is made up of two layers of tissue that are separated by a small amount of fluid. When the pleura becomes inflamed, it can produce more than the normal amount of fluid in this space. This is called a pleural effusion.
