Diphtheria:

An acute infectious disease that typically strikes the upper respiratory tract including the throat. Diphtheria can be deadly. It is one of the diseases that the DTP (Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis) and DTaP (Diphtheria-Tetanus-acellular Pertussis) vaccines are designed to prevent.
